Satellite radio is also called as digital radio. Since normal radio frequency is very low, the signals can be limited and you can listen to your favorite radio channels up to a certain limit (40, 50, 100 miles). When you go beyond a certain mile your radio won’t get the proper signals. While going for a long journey, you won’t be able to listen to your favorite radio stations. You need to keep tuning to get the nearest radio station so that clarity is good.
A satellite radio is a kind of static radio, wherein you can listen to certain radio stations anywhere in the world. It’s a fixed and permanent radio station. No matter where you are, in Florida or Texas, while traveling or at home, you can receive up to 100 radio stations with very good frequency and of CD quality. There are two-satellite radio services in the US - Sirius and XM. Subscribers have to pay a monthly fee of $9.95.
Many car manufacturers have started installing satellite radio receivers. Before the age of cell phones, radio was sole the mode of communication. The people who really needed mobile communication used to install a radio device in a car and a powerful antenna above it. The Antenna is the sole operator of radio. It snaps the analog signals which are necessary for communication. The only disadvantage of an antenna was it has to be installed in an open space which requires some financial investment.
The cell phone works through “cells”, these cells contains the analog and digital signals and it works on “frequency reuse” techniques. For a cell phone to work, a metropolitan area has to be divided into many cells. The communication between two human beings in the same metropolitan area is carried out by numerous cells which as said above works on frequency reuse. The technique of a cell to work on the frequency of the previous cell and the frequency of its own is called “frequency reuse”. A powerful transistor is needed to transfer the information from one cell to other, so a group of cells in one particular area is controlled by a transistor and group of transistors are controlled by “physical towers”.
A Metropolitan area is divided into group of physical towers, the area between two towers is divided into a group of transistors and the area between transistors is divided into groups of numerous cells. The end result of working of the above is the communication between the human beings.
The station Mobile Telephone Switching Office (MTSO) controls the working of cell phones. It has the responsibility for distinguishing cell phone calls from land line calls and also identifying appropriate land line numbers for which the cell phone calls were made.

Telephone Systems - An Overview On Operating Principle

A Telephone system is a communication instrument that transmits any voice / sound signals to far by locations by converting these sound signals in waves and receives and reconverts the same waves into sound signals/ voice. The telephone network is extended universally so if you want to talk to someone, you simply need to pick up the telephone system and dial a few digits. You are instantly connected to that person and both of you can have a 2 way conversation.
Telephone systems were first introduced by Graham Bell over one hundred years ago, but it is still works on the same operating principle. To make a call, we need to first pick up the handset. This causes the telephone system to be connected to a routing network. By pressing the numbers present on the touch tone keypad / frequency generator, signals are passed down via phone line to the routing station. Here, each digit is identified as a unique combination of tone frequencies. The specific combination of digits causes a signal to be passed to other telephone systems causing it to ring. When that telephone is picked up, connection between the two telephone systems is achieved.
The ear piece acts as speaker where as mouthpiece acts as a microphone. Sound waves from the user’s voice cause vibration to a thin plastic disc present inside the telephone system. This causes change in the distance between the plastic disk and another metal disk resulting in a varying electric current which is passed through the phone lines. The receiver on the other phone picks up this electromagnet current. These magnets cause diaphragm to vibrate which produces the sound /voice that initiated the current. An amplifier in the receiver end makes it easier to hear. When one of the phones is hung up the electric current get broken resulting in dis-connection of the telephone systems.

Wireless Network Bridge Setup and Microsoft Windows XP

In order to connect more than two computers using a wireless network bridge you will first need to install an adapter in each of the computers and after this run a CAT5 cable to connect them all to a hub or a switch. The computer you plan to use for bridging will have two types of adapters inserted in his mainboard: a normal LAN adapter that you should’ve already put in, and a wireless network adapter that will help by making a connection to the WAP or wireless access point.
Now, let us take this whole process step by step. After you have installed and connected the network adapters go to the computer you intend using for bridging and open Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections > Network Connections. Remember that in order to create a wireless network bridge you shall need at least 2 connections that do not use to different processes. These processes are ICF (internet firewall) and the ICS (internet sharing).
Now you should be in the Network Connections folder and you must be seeing a bunch of connections. Well, each of these connections is actually each of your network cards - one for the wireless one and one for the wired one. Now go open the connection for the wireless adapter and go to the details pane. You will see that it is working perfectly. Now it is recommended for you to check the Ethernet connection as well, and it should be working just fine as well. Now, all you have to do is click both connections at the same time (this is done by holding the control key and selecting each connection), then right click on any of the connections and select the Bridge Connections submenu. After the computer has finished configuring the bridge connection, you will see a Network Connection window.
ICS and ICF
I have mentioned somewhere above that, in order to have a bridge connection you have to select only those connections that are not being used by ICS and ICF. I might have mentioned as well that ICS stands for internet Connection sharing and ICF for internet connection firewall. Of course, you may need ICS or ICF in some cases. No matter the reason, you will first need a third adapter. In other words, if you indeed need ICS of ICF you will have to run to the local computer hardware store and get yourself a new adapter card. However, even with three adapters the task is rather tricky because in order to make bridge this way (by wanting to enable either ICS or ICF or both) you will have to bridge before enabling any of them. You can always use the setup wizard for these tasks but the order is imperative. First use the setup wizard to create the bridge and then to enable ICS or ICF. Now the wizard will look for an Internet Connection and will try to configure ICF and last, if you wish, bridge more network cards that are connected to your network.

Wireless ADHOC Networks

Why and when would you want to install a wireless adhoc network? Well you would want to install a wireless Ad HoC network when you do not have the equipment for a wired network; you lack a wireless router and want to share an internet connection, or a temporary meeting place where you need to share information.
The first type of set up will be if you do have an internet connection but you lack a wireless access point or a wireless router to share that connection. This could be a very common scenario at a business meeting or during a classroom study session.
First, each computer will need a wireless adapter. Next click the advance tab near the bottom right and click (computer to computer ad-hoc networks only). Second you will need to add your ad-hoc wireless network so click add. Fill in the network name (SSID) and choose WEP encryption. You will want to use WEP if are using older adapters and use WPA if you are sure all the computers on the ad-hoc wireless network can handle it. It is not a requirement to use encryption but just remember that anyone will be able to join your network.
Because we will want everyone to share our wired Ethernet connection you will need to enable ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) on the wired network adapter not the wireless adapter. This seems like common sense but I have seen many people trying to setup ICS on their wireless adapter. Just go to your network connections and right click the Ethernet connections and press the advanced tab. Check the box that says enable ICS. Once you have setup your ICS, go to every computer and configure their wireless adapter like you did the first one.
ICS will act as a DHCP server and assign private TCP/IP address to your ad-wireless network clients. Each computer will receive a TCP/IP address from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.254. ICS will also tell the computers on the network the location of their default gateway which is the computer you set up ICS on.
Trouble shooting a wireless ad-hoc network can be a head ache. Make sure you set up the ICS computer and one client computer. You will want to check to make sure that the first client computer has the correct IP address so type CMD into the run box to bring up the command line. Next, type in ipconfig, you should see a number of 192.168.0.2 or something similar. Next type ping 192.168.0.1 or the number of your default gateway. If you can ping it you should see four reply messages.
Once you have the first two computers connected correctly, just go to all the other computers and configure the wireless adapters the same way. Other common mistakes are: leaving the firewalls on, wrong encryption and just general typos.
